Thank you troublemakers

The textile look of the climate fighters is inspired by the builders, not the party. There is no glamour, no casual looseness. This is not a sit-down demonstration where a bottle of red wine is circulating around without wiping itself clean and someone is cultivating their critique of capitalism while sitting cross-legged. In this rebellion, the blockage of personal aggression is not removed and the traumatized childhood is not processed. This stage is not suitable for self-promotion. Nor is it for families whose parents want their children to have their first taste of political pleasure.

Because anyone who takes part in Renovate Switzerland agrees to be hated. He lives dangerously. Sitting on a busy street and getting stuck there is definitely not fun, on the contrary, it’s very scary, the traffic participants report on the movement’s website. Nevertheless, they find the strength in themselves to do great things, being convinced that it is necessary to act, now, immediately. The climate emergency is acute. It’s all about. For our entire lives here on this planet.

Against hope, dreams, suppression

On the one hand, Renovate Switzerland argues against science figures and puts forward specific demands (more funds for green building renovations). On the other hand, their actions to block the streets also show that the credibility of the arguments has been shaken.

Fair. Because no half-sane person today would deny the reality of global warming. However, this knowledge is unlikely to have any consequences for our actions. We downplay our responsibility. We hope for technical innovations. We hope for a miracle. We hope, we dream, we suppress.

Always those climate freaks!

This is where Renovate Switzerland activists come into play. They are annoying with their use of their body. you’re annoying. you provoke. They break the flow. They destroy our self-esteem.

In fact, you should be mad at yourself for being too lazy to get on your bike again. Instead, you are on the autobahn. But this time the traffic jam is not caused by too many other cars. Not from an accident either. Today you can put the blame on these climate freaks. They are excellent anger dissipators. We should be grateful to them for that too. Everything will be fine.

Ursula von Arx often feels powerless in the face of global warming. And it always rejoices when people don’t just accept it. Von Arx writes to Bleek every second Monday.
