TV legend Kurt Eschbacher speaks out against woke culture…

Television legend Kurt Eschbacher (75) does not mince his words. In former Miss Switzerland Anita Buri’s (45) new podcast “Schnurri mit Buri”, he is irritated by woke culture. And, accordingly, he protests against this, as Blik said. He says: “In the woke society we now live in, it is becoming difficult to even give a compliment. Am I an old man now and a white guy? Am I making a mistake just because I tell a woman, “You look beautiful?”

At such moments, Eschbacher wonders if he is now making a mistake: “Should I now remain silent, even though I have no sexual intentions? The current development of events, in which everyone is essentially a victim of the other, is very dangerous.” Perhaps we need to set an example now rather than go along with “what is flowing from America to Switzerland and especially to Germany.”

Prominent women about the statements of Kurt Eschbacher

Blick asked prominent women how they feel and feel when a man compliments them today. These are their responses aimed directly at Kurt Eschbacher.

Amelie Gallade (19), political podcaster

“Dear Mr. Eschbacher, The term “old white male” has grown historically because women have been oppressed in patriarchal structures for thousands of years and still have no equal in many areas, such as pensions or medicine. This classification bothers both of us. We want to be seen as individuals. Expressing positive thoughts is a wonderful thing and should continue. What has changed is the awareness of the need to respect other people’s boundaries, even when they give compliments, and not reduce them to one characteristic. I like to receive compliments on my appearance, within reason. But it frustrates me when most of the letters I receive after a television appearance comment on my performance without taking into account what I said. I feel reduced to my appearance as a young woman. If you’re interested, I’d be happy to talk to you.”

Sarah Leitenegger (29), influencer and content creator

“Dear Kurt, it’s important to give compliments from the heart, but they don’t always have to be about your appearance. Especially in business, women often downplay their appearance, so it’s better to praise their experience and skills. Compliments are important and right, but we must also be sensitive to the needs of today and think about what we say.”

Christina Zurer (50), former race car driver and presenter

“Dear Kurt. I think we think too much about this issue. I appreciate every compliment. You don’t always have to see things ambiguously or suspect something more. We need to look at life more with humor, which, unfortunately, is a little lost these days. We have completely different things to worry about than worrying about things like this. The main thing is to be happy and kind to each other.”

Monika Kaelin (69), President of the Swiss Show Stage

“Dear Kurt. There is nothing better for a woman than to receive a sincere compliment not only about her work, but also about her appearance. We were raised to dress and dress beautifully. We do this primarily for ourselves, but also for others. The saying “Clothes make the man” is not accidental. Perhaps some people will pay more attention to this again these days. Those who take care of themselves and look good have a better appearance and a better mood even on less good days. It doesn’t have to be branded clothing and it doesn’t have to be full of makeup, but you can get dressed pretty quickly if you want! Then the compliments come naturally and you feel even better! In any case, I’m already looking forward to the 48th Prix Walo TV gala with beautiful guests in evening dresses. And again compliments to women! Oh, how sweet!”
