Water conservation: an obligation that cannot be postponed

In Panama, the reality of the drought knocked hard on our door, reminding us of the fragility of one of the most precious resources on our planet: water. The water crisis we are facing has had an impact more sectors of the country, with traffic through the Panama Canal innot one of the currently most resounding ones, which has repercussions on the national economy and beyond our borders; showing that we are facing a critical moment in history, where water conservation is becoming a global urgency.

Water plays a fundamental role both in the operations of various companies and in our basic needs as human beings. However, challenges related toWater resources are degraded by climate pressures and poor infrastructure and management issues. In this context, it is necessary to take concrete measures to preserve this vital resource and ensure its availability for generations to come.

From the point view of the brewery, water is much more than a key componentin our production; It is the input that sustains our entire value chain. It is necessary to acquire raw materials, such as barley and hops, from which drinks are made, and to deliver a drink that consumers can enjoy. Its lack not only represents a challenge for our business, but also a global risk that threatens economic, social and environmental well-being our communities.

As leaders in the beer industry on a level around the world, at Cervecería Nacional we take responsibility to be active agentsin solving these challenges. In our business, we promote water efficiency through innovative technologies and sustainable approaches. This is why we at Cervecería Nacional have set the goal of using only 2.7 HL of water per 1 HL of beer in the bottling of each beer by the end of the current year.

In addition, we are investing in solutions to address local water challenges outside of our facilities, with the goal of improving water availability and quality in 100% of our communities in areas of severe water scarcity by 2025. This includes developing feasibility studies to create a water fund for supply swimming pools of the city of Panama. Likewise, conservation actions have been implemented to maintain the health of water sources, aimed at the protection, restoration and comprehensive management of forests and water resources in these areas. Chagres and Pacora river basins.

We are aware that solving these challenges requires cooperation in all sectors. We therefore extend an open invitation to other companies, organizations and governments to continue their work together to preserve and manage water responsibly. Together, we can do it significant difference.

Our water management efforts are not only crucial for the present, but will also lay the foundation for a future of shared prosperity. We are committed to building a world where access to water is easysustainable and fair for all, reaffirming our commitment to this vital and urgent cause. Water conservation is not an option, it is an imperative that we cannot postpone.
