The pain of Jesus

In that debt on the way to Calvary, where Jesus gave his life for us on the cross, He experiences five pains that he would like to compare to the five wounds on his body and his devotion. The first pain consists of feeling insulted, slandered, slandered in a terrible way by those who were considered your enemies.

They call him accomplice and friend of sinners, glutton and drunkard, deceiver and liar, the leader of the rebellion against Caesar, the blasphemer and Satan, the chief of demons. In fact, they end up accusing him of posing as king, replacing Caesar. That’s why the Roman Empire kills him.

The second pain is the unjust trial with false witnesses where he is condemned because he wanted to destroy the Jerusalem temple and pretended to be God. He was actually talking about his own body being destroyed on the third day as well would be resurrected. And with his actions and words he confirmed the great truth, that he is God.

It was a trial with many insults and ridicule. He is condemned first by the Jews, and then by the Roman Empire through the coward Pilate. The third pain, very acute, was the betrayal of his friends, starting with Judas, who sold him for a few coins.

This, combined with Peter’s betrayal at the dawn of the last day of Jesus’ life and the desertion of all his disciples, caused great suffering. And then the radical change of the city that received him with its ownsongs and palms on the so-called Flower Day, threw their cloaks on the ground when Jesus passed by, then asked to be crucified and on the way to Calvary they insulted him, spat on him and mocked him; This pushed him even deeper into pain.

The fourth pain was savage torture by Roman soldiers, who with their whips which ended with those lead balls with hooks that tore through the skin, causing multiple and deep wounds. They mocked him, slapped him, spat on him, put on him a crown of branches with thorns and a purple robe. And the way to the cross was terrible, not only because of the weight of the cross, but because he was already bleeding heavily and weakened.

But the fifth pain was the worst. Bearing the weight of our sins, those of all mankind and of all time, and paying the ransom of our curse with his torment and death, he experiences the terrible the consequences of our sins, to feel abandoning God.

Feel the distance God, he, who experienced the Father’s greatest closeness to the utmost limits about what calling my father, dad, dad, that was the most terrible pain. Even so, he dies exclaiming: Father, in your arms I give my spirit.
