Let’s reinvent ourselves and reset our minds

On these dates, even from Madrid, there is a breeze dry season, they brought Dr. Mario Alonso de Puig to Panama, one of the greatest cultures in the study of the mind, from the unique perspective of neuroscience, and the most important advances in individual and social therapeutic techniques to enable us to live better, both as people, as organizations and as a society.

dr. Alonso Puig is the author of numerous books, almost all of which are world bestsellers, and I have chosen the titles of two for these lines in honor and celebration of his stay in our country, where he has a rich fans, followers and students of his suggestions, the impact they have made in the lives of people and companies genuinely interested in using advances in modern neuroscience.

Dr. Alonso Puig’s visit these weeks coincided with the commemoration of an important world event that went almost unnoticed, except for technology experts, since Panama is the seat of the Conference on development of artificial intelligence (AI) (Artificial General Intelligence-AGI Conference), with exponents of the greatness of Dr. Jerome Glenn, executive director of The Millennium Project, as well as Dr. José Luis Cordeiro, another exponent of the perspective of neuroscience and neurotechnologies, the latter also one of the champions of the development of scientific progress that allows us to see that by 2045 humanity can make death and aging optional for human beings, either through cryogenesis, cell rejuvenation, genetic engineering, bio-nanotechnology and other almost “magical” achievements in the early stages we meet (although since the 90s they have not really stopped progressing logarithmically), I draw your attention to these meetings and the presence of Dr. Alonso Puig, therefore, they put this small isthmus of ours in the scenario of the confluence of complex sciences, especially science and technology information: Nanotechnology, AI, Biotechnology, Robotics and Neuroscienceall of them derived from an in-depth study of information and data, but also from our idea of who we are.

And I have to point out here the deeply humanistic approach of Dr. Alonso Puigbecause these transformations, which can give way to “science without conscience”, to a very dangerous “playing the gods”, (one of the factual derivatives against which his medical voice is raised as a champion of humanism typical of “science with conscience”, at the very antipode of scientific techno- bureaucracy, which, without saying so, sees these shifts as a form of control and manipulation, or a simple replication “in extenso” of social and class divisions in our society .., since such advances can remain the exclusive property of whoever can pay them) .

In a fragmented world where 1% of the world’s population accounts for 63% of global income (according to Oxfam, see https://www.oxfamintermon.org/es) we need successors to Einstein, Madame Curie, Pasteur or Patarroyo, or Carl Rogers and Erich Fromm in psychology From that line. This Spaniard – a good successor to Ramón y Cajal in his universal nature – who studied at the Complutense University, then went to Harvard, where he specialized in gastrointestinal disorders.

The suffering of his patients led him to think and rethink about the mind-body, brain-mind relationship and the possibilities of overcoming the flat positivism and childish scientism that he naively considered his own. positions of nineteenth-century science and not the adventure of thinking of the 21st century, to advance a new neuro-psycho-biological approach, contrary to the Cartesianism that prevailed in the West.

Reinventing ourselves is imperative for these catastrophic times, with hybrid wars, genocide, media manipulation, job stress, endemic poverty and climate change, which is, ultimately, our own conception of ourselves as human, as human beings. that we are part of Nature, we are self-aware Nature.

On the brink of nuclear Armageddon, we need to change, progress through “awakening”, rethink and reset ourselves – holistically and integrally. He will turn to the best of the legacy of the Enlightenment, to take up the golden thread of spirituality that fulfills Cosmos, like thinkers such as Pierre Teilhard de Chardin, Gaston Bachelard or Edgar Morin, in recent times, they have come to light. Know that, as the great Dante Alighieri said: there is an ultimate force “that moves the sun and the other stars”.

Happy staying inside Panama, Dr. Mario Alonso Puig! Let the bright light of the tropics, our hot climate and its simple and hospitable people “reset” your mind and mature a generous heart. Greetings for Isabela and your three children, dear teachers.
