The great winner, in the fight against the mining empire and in the defense of our territorial integrity, dignity and national sovereignty, with a clear legitimate defense of our natural resources and environment, there was only one: the Panamanian people.

Let’s not forget that the State, the Nation, delivered to the mining empire more than twelve (12) thousand acres at a vulgar and ridiculous lease rate for which they would pay ten (10) dollars per acre per year. Misery, total exasperation.

I remember that SALAMIN’s public statements, when he denounced and withdrew from the humiliating table of negotiators for the state or government, were accompanied by famous defenses of the Homeland, meaningful opinion articles my brother, a very experienced lawyer, RAMIRO GUERRA and also forever great friend DIDIMO ESCOBAR, famous colleague, a man of fine pen, since I have joined this laudable task, without rest or respite along with the lawyers I have mentioned above. I remember that, finding myself in Bogotá, in Colombia, from there, stealing time and moments from my family, from my wife, from my children, I did not stop sending audio videos, defying all the pretensions of the mining company and the government that he encouraged, and still not stops, continue in the country. And quite a few presidential candidates are flirting with that mining empire.

It is as if the recent experience of the people’s struggle was made and written down on a large piece of ice. Except for the young Zulay Rodríguez, I have not seen any other candidate who showed himself and expressed himself energetically and gallantly in front of the mining company and in front of the government. And now they are coming to the fore, in the painful period of the electoral struggle, to beat their chests of mea culpa and to present themselves to the people as winners. homeland when in reality they said nothing and did nothing.

Sad situation. Then let a a politician who wants to be the president of this country, or anyone else, to fly as his or her movement a flag that belongs, solely and exclusively, to the Panamanian people, is inexcusable. God bless the country!
