While the isthmus was heating up in the political debacle of mid-1968, we strengthened our studies on language and culture during the summer in France it would change our vision of tourism forever.

A handful of colleagues from my school Worcester High School, Massachusetts We joined a group of over fifty students from various regions of the United States on an adventure that would strengthen our young souls during 10 weeks of study and field trips throughout the Republic of France.

Living through it served as a preamble to brainstorming young and old in this era of climate change, political definition, unacceptable wars and continuous violence in a world where homo sapiens, instead of learning from its past, continues keeps the flame of prehistoric tribalism alive which has united and separated us throughout history.

Traveling nourishes the soul and helps us expand our horizons. Immersion in France, in the provinces, outside its award-winning capital, on the peaks of its Alps in Annecy, the royal palaces of the Loire, the stoic Mont Saint-Michel on the Atlantic coast of Normandy, the centuries-old vineyards of Bordeaux and the endless series of towns and cities of its Mediterranean Côte d’Azur, remains an unparalleled gastronomic and cultural feast in Globe.

So the magnet that we discovered in Amboise more than half a century ago not only remains valid, but also full of the boiling energy that pervades cascade tourism while we languish here in sterile figures without finding the magic wand that enables the real takeoff of our unparalleled destiny.
