There is only one sure way to wealth; increasing income and moderate tastes. in society composed of various sectors, living very different realities, it cannot be pretended that the tastes are the same; which indicates that moderation and increase are concepts that differ between us.
That great truth, about which there is no talk, has remained unnoticed in the midst of the national crisis that we have recently lived through. From a union perspective, we wanted to understand the non-union member; From the reality of the formal employee, there have been attempts to impose unique criteria on the informal employee; As residents of an urban environment, with access to potable water and electricity, requests are made to those who do not know constant supply of basic needs. We are not a multicultural country, but we are a multi-sector country, composed of very different, although not irreconcilable, sectors. To understand this puzzle, each piece has its own importance within the reality in which it lives. We are like a broken vase that needs to put its pieces back together.
Without ceasing to appreciate the great contribution, for example, of vegetable growers, we must understand that hundreds of thousands of Panamanians do not consume vegetables daily, because their daily income does not allow it. Those sectors that do not have the means to procure this food cannot be approached with a supportive discourse so that others can consume what they do not consume. Likewise, for those informal sectors who daily live the tragedy of lack of steady income and who are forced to work to provide them with a daily income, they cannot be asked to completely erase their fear of hunger, to simply be sympathetic and understanding with those who do not know the daily fear they suffer . Those who do not use public transport cannot be asked to spontaneously realize that opening up roads is important for macro-development that never reaches their homes. It is not, therefore, that guilds, associations and official jobs maintain our Creole economy, but that there are indicators that are almost artisanal, that are fulfilled within those daily mixes that many refuse to understand.
This defragmentation of Panama must be unified and articulated, first, before we pretend to be a nation that marks fake numbers in the world statistics of the global economy. Some associated trade unions, which deliberate within cooling rooms, They want us to be a pioneer country in tourism, but from the moment you cross the bridge into our interior, the road is adorned with dead pets that were once part of families and homes, without those remains even being properly buried. We intend to be an example of global communication, but we suffer from roads that only find conditions suitable for off-road vehicles.
We want to be environmentalists first world, tree hugging who live very far away in the heart of our jungles, yet we allow an unprecedented risk of contamination to exist in the heart of our capital, ignoring that ticking time bomb Cerro Patacón, with which more than a million people live, whose health could be at risk. Everything can be improved, but not in the way that the media can communication and organized sectors of society intend to do so; accepting lies. The counterfeit training that circulates in the networks of a pioneering, innovative country, with superior technology, is simply a figment of the imagination of the manipulators of our society.
Let’s face our reality, understand it first, yes later to integrate and create a homeland, as a united nation. In the framework of a healthy coexistence, no fragmented reality should prevail.
