Finally we come to failure

After the death of his father, Edward II succeeded to the British crown in 1307. As a result of his wrong political decisions, favoring his friends and internal conflicts, in 1327 his wife Isabel of France orchestrated a rebellion that caused his abdication. and the subsequent murder at Berkeley Castle. His reign is remembered as the period that destroyed England.

After his death, his son Edward III ascended the throne and succeeded in uniting the troubled English barons, expanding Windsor Castle, establishing a new era of medieval chivalry, and engaging France in the Hundred Years’ War (1337-1453) to enforce his claim to French throne. He ruled for 50 years until he died of a stroke.

The lack of political and military talent, as well as the excessive patronage he had towards his friends, were the reason that the reign of Edward II. fell into anarchy which caused his abdication and death; These facts were certainly not overlooked when his successor, Edward III, took the crown and indeed made his reign last and more beneficial to England.

Charles Dickens (1812-1870), the English novelist who wrote A Christmas Story, once said, “Every failure teaches a man something he should have learned.” In Panama, recent events have shown that the state has failed because decades of wrong policy decisions have prevailed, such as the promotion of contracts, laws that are clearly not conducive to the public interest, and patronage with which economic aid was given to those who clearly do not need it, just because of connections to individuals close to political power, among other things; which show that we have reached a turning point, which shows the sorry state our political system is in.

From the above it follows today that two-thirds of the government of the state, which was just elected by democratic means, conspired to orchestrate the causes of what we are suffering today and this is proof that our democracy has failed, as such a point that we now depend on the beliefs of the third government of the state which is, paradoxically, almost entirely elected by the same two-thirds that got us into this problem, this co-dependence between the parties is the reason why the whole country remains on guard, since they do not believe in the division of power that should exist in the Republic.

In this context, it can be seen that our country should have learned the lesson of how dangerous it is to misappoint our authorities, just as Edward III realized that his father’s unpopular policies and cronyism led to the anarchy that destroyed England, we as sovereigns are today forced to think about our political decisions so that another government does not destroy us again.
