On Wednesday, Geert Wilders won the elections in the Netherlands. Since then, the left and greens have taken to the streets against the right-wing populist. They see democracy in danger.

Why don’t the left and greens turn against themselves? They are to blame for Wilders’ triumph!

They are also to blame for the election victory of Mussolini’s Georgia Meloni party in Italy. They are responsible for the successes of right-wing populism throughout Western Europe – all the way to Sweden, once considered a safe bastion of social democrats.

If Marine Le Pen is soon elected president of France by the National Rally, the left and greens will also be to blame.

I admit, this sounds apodictic. But the left and the greens should bear with it because they themselves like to use unvarnished language: for them, capitalism has been to blame for all the world’s ills for years – climate change and migration, the consequences of Western money-driven policies.

The far right has turned the favorite themes of the green left into successful campaign themes: against the left’s sanctification of migrants and against the green climate catechism.

Why are seasoned Democrats suddenly voting for parties on the political right? Because they are fed up with the Green Left, because they can no longer hear the educational mantras of this alienated elite in the media, in NGOs, in churches, in universities.

This is a well-educated, wealthy and well-endowed class that wants to replace the climate-damaging car with the eco-neutral cargo bike – with moral messages and policies. This is a wealthy social elite that devotes itself to a culture of welcome and gathers migrants into working-class neighborhoods, away from their own luxurious reality of life.

Of course, the picture of the situation that populists paint is tailored to suit propaganda management. But citizens remain aware of everything that depresses and frightens them – problems that have been ignored by the existing political scene for many years, contrary to their better judgment.

Close your eyes, close your ears, close your mouth.

The answer to this silence is Europe’s shift to the right wherever elections are held, and soon in the European Parliament.

The reactionary right is replacing the green left – the reactionary green left!
