On October 7, Hamas indiscriminately killed civilians, raped women, tortured, maimed and killed people. Hostages were brought to the Gaza Strip, including three-year-old Abigail. Their parents were killed before their eyes. In view of the atrocities, words are not enough. Hamas terrorizes not only the Israelis, but also its own population. Meanwhile, the leaders of this terrorist group enjoy a luxurious life abroad with our tax dollars.
The national and state council safety commissions voted unanimously.
decided that Hamas would be classified as a terrorist organization. Federal Council member Ignazio Cassis demanded that the Federal Council urgently classify Hamas as a terrorist organization so that criminal prosecutions can be strengthened and preventive police measures and the fight against terrorist financing against Hamas can be immediately launched.
Federal President Berset resisted the urgent procedure.
The Federal Council has relented and Hamas should be banned as normal procedure. This means that Swiss authorities will not bother Hamas for another month, if not years. It is obvious that the Federal Administration and the Federal Council are attempting to undermine the Hamas ban.
Justification that fundamental rights may be violated through an urgent procedure
Considering the massacre carried out by Hamas, this is a slap in the face to the victims. The same Federal Council that governs by means of an emergency law during the Corona era and which accepted all the EU sanctions against the Russian oligarchs by means of an emergency law, chatters about constitutional problems when it bans Hamas as a matter of urgency. Such a terrorist organization must be banned immediately, otherwise the Federal Council will be complicit in any further Hamas attacks on civilians.
The decision of the Federal Council is hypocritical, cowardly and a disgrace to our country.
