The fact that many things are going wrong at the Einsiedeln hospital is now known not only in the region, but throughout Switzerland. Rather, the problems in Einsiedeln also create problems for the hospitals in Lachen and Schwyz: they compete for staff and patients. The question of whether there is enough space for three hospitals in the canton of Schwyz is becoming increasingly clear. Anyone who is not ready to answer them admits that one in three hospitals will eventually fizzle out ingloriously. Canton would be better off influencing the future of the Schwyz hospital system through targeted planning.
