Next summer the team will go to the European Championships. She avoided the worst-case scenario and thus major upheaval at the end of the campaign on Tuesday in Bucharest. At least a dire scenario that even the biggest pessimists could not imagine before qualifying began was averted in the sold-out Yoggeli match against Kosovo.

Although a ticket to the European Championship is secured even before the last game, the euphoria from what has been achieved is muted compared to other years, and the anticipation of a summer fairy tale in a neighboring country is not yet noticeable in these nasty November days. Too many things are going wrong right now. Qualifying for the European Championship cannot hide weak performances against Kosovo (2:2), Belarus (3:3) and Israel (1:1), and cannot eliminate internal conflicts in the team. Because the qualifications now achieved were simply mandatory in the weakest of all groups, on paper.

For the tenth time in two decades, Switzerland is taking part in a major tournament. This shows that SFV has done a good job over the years. But the association is floundering, and the qualifications achieved should not overshadow this. A tough analysis is needed in the next few weeks: in the team, in the coaching staff and in the leadership of the association. Then you need to set a course for the future. Otherwise, there is a risk that finals will cease to be the rule, but rather the exception for our team in the medium term.
