Berner Platt – SonntagsBlick column: Leftist intolerance

In anticipation of the upcoming National Council elections, National Council member Thomas Matter and I are hosting several aperitifs in various bars in the canton of Zurich. Among other things, we are also staying in Zurich 4. A bar owner stuck A4 sheets of paper on the outside wall of his bar to mark the occasion. The advertisement does not contain any political messages. However, the anonymous group soon deleted it and posted a message with the slogan: “Sexism, racism and homophobia will not be tolerated in this area.” At the end they write that everyone will come, “loud, colorful and strange.”

The magic words are decency and respect.

Unlike the anonymous cowards who usually moved from somewhere to the Fourth Arrondissement, I was born and raised in this area until I moved to Geneva at age 19. We lived with two brothers and my parents in a three-room apartment next to seven other residents. Two families in the house immigrated from Italy, one man from Turkey. Three families were Jewish, two Catholic, two Reformed and one Muslim. Living conditions were cramped for everyone, but the willingness to help each other was even greater and living together was always pleasant, despite cultural and religious differences. The magic words were decency and respect.

The party as a scapegoat?
It’s all SVP’s fault

Left-wing groups show neither respect nor decency towards anything that does not fit into their worldview. You can destroy their property and disrupt their events. On May 1st, businesses aren’t just vandalized for no reason. Left climate stickers are needed for bus drivers and passengers. They think that only their ideas and ideology are applicable in the Fourth District. This shows their intolerance and narrow-mindedness. It is the leftists, the intolerant ordinary people, who make coexistence difficult with their illegal actions. It can be said that they were not socialized in the Fourth District.

Fight sexism in the right place

Instead of disrupting our aperitif, where there is no sexism, racism or homophobia, I recommend that this group protest in an area where alleged cases of serious and disgusting sexism have actually come to light. At the left “Tages-Anzeiger” on Werdstrasse and at the left “Republic”.
