Prayer of Bernhard Alpstag

The question of guilt in the confused situation at Lucerne seems clear. On the one hand, the styleless multimillionaire Bernhard Alpsteg. The smug king of the Swissporarena who, thanks to his financial ability, feels he can blow everything to smithereens with his two-handed sword. And put everyone in a corner, like schoolchildren.

Of course, such a “pose” is not well received at the grassroots level. Being rich and radiating arrogance is a combination that causes reflexive and uncontrollable alienation in many people to the point of nausea. Especially when there is a white knight on the “other” side with dear Stefan Wolf.

Wolf, friendly club icon. Allegedly a modest and dedicated worker who puts not himself, but the club and business in the foreground. And who stands almost martyrically in front of his credited sporting director, Remo Meyer.

The wolf, Winkelried, who heroically plunges Alpstag’s arrows into his stomach. Good and bad is how the cliché gets fixed in the media.

Is everything so simple? Of course not! On the one hand, Alpstaeg, a somewhat outdated patron, has a completely different side to his rambunctious freaks. He is a caring employer. He also pays a bonus to cleaners, not just bureaus.

Why does no one ask if their criticism of Wolf and Meyer is based on facts and substantiated? Meyer’s record for the last five years has been wrong. And Stefan Wolf does not always come across as convincing and competent in managing a company with 160 employees. Alpstaeg came to this conclusion after analysis.

The fact that there could be actual reasons for him to swear is completely ignored due to his boorish communication. But Alpstaeg doesn’t want to just provoke. He’s too smart for that. He sees grievances that he wants to correct.

He owns a club, a stadium and even a Schützenhaus restaurant next to the Swissporarena. He is closely associated with the club. And the role of “All against Alpstaeg” does not stop him. On the contrary: He draws strength and energy from it. He has already proven this over the years of clinches with Samih Sawiris, Marko Sieber and Hans Schmid.

Of course, the club with its base is more important and larger than any person. Of course, he missed with his public frontal attack. And logically, it’s more than clumsy to open a player consulting agency as a club owner.

However: perhaps the Alpstaeg is not a real weak point in the current design. Even if no one likes to hear this thesis at the moment.

One thing is clear: the elephant went into the china shop for a reason.
