I can assure you that I consider it very important that the public service be financially viable for all the inhabitants of the country. However, I have to take note of the cost trend – a sharp increase in energy and transport costs, and compensation for the cost of living for staff while reducing the amount that helps bear the costs – and this makes it necessary to increase prices. .

Therefore, my main concern in the negotiations was the fair distribution of the burden. In other words, the necessary price increase extends not only to customers, but also to the fact that Swiss Post also takes a corresponding share.

In general, this has been successful, and customers will have to pay about 70 million francs less than Swiss Post originally planned. Nevertheless, not a single Geiss licks that there will be increases. But there are also more encouraging developments.

The most important changes from the point of view of private clients are by far the following:

• Prices for (national) letters A Mail and B Mail (1-100 g) will increase by 10 cents each to 1.20 and 1.00 Swiss francs respectively.
• Midi letter can now weigh up to 500 g and can be sent as a small package with a format surcharge (up to a thickness of 5 cm). Such a “mini-package” with a T-shirt or crayons for the godson costs 3.70 francs for A Mail and 3.40 francs for B Mail.
• Prices for other parcels will increase mainly: an economy parcel (up to 2 kg) will cost CHF 8.50 from January, and a priority parcel of the same weight category will cost CHF 10.50.

However, there is a CHF 1.50 discount for anyone who labels their parcels online. By the way, the discount is also given to those who only prepare the label and then print it out on a printer in a department, agency, or on a Mypost-24 device.
