When everyone is not at home: it is worth staying at home

When the pool has more terrycloth than grass, you want a summer vacation. Home is never better than when everyone is away: empty trams, no tedious lines in front of the ice cream stand, a solarium for yourself.

Of course, families with school-age children have to go to the sea when the schedule allows, and the campsite is often already busy. Everyone else should plan their vacation counter-cyclically: a few weeks before or after the tourist influx.

It’s worth staying at home. It has never been so cold as in these unremarkable weeks. Everything is going down. Football players are preparing for the new season in the Maldives, the offices and factories are quiet, the summer holidays are in the concert hall. You don’t miss anything and you don’t see anyone. Like self-isolation, only friendlier. The famous desert island can be found in the middle of the city during the summer holidays.

It also doesn’t make financial sense to book during the high season. Hotels charge twice as much, as do beach club crooks for sunbeds.

When people return to keep their holiday tan on the lake or river, we pack our bags and look forward to the deserted beach.
