Perhaps idolatry is the most condemned sin, and the one most marked by its severity in the Old Testament. The temptation to worship foreign gods of other nations, or to create one’s own gods, like the golden calf in the desert It was very common in Israel. Also this trial followed Christians throughout their history. The golden calf today is to worship empires, ideologies, money, beauty or body worship, or certain people like singers, athletes. When one ascends to godhood person, idea, culture, possessions, nations, racespolitical party, traditions and religious beliefs, falls into idolatry.
Idolatry you far from the true God. You cannot live with the Lord the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit and the gods of the world. He doesn’t allow it. “Give to God what is God’s, and to the emperor what is the emperor’s”; This sentence is completely relevant even today, because it is the Word of God. Loving the true God and wanting to love false gods is not possible.
In the end, leave the Lord and follow him the way of evil, the worship of gods made of clay. Besides, the Lord cannot coexist in the heart of a human being with false gods occupying His throne. Jesus himself says that one cannot serve God and riches. The Lord cannot share His throne in the heart of a human being with a false god.
Because of idolatry, many of his troubles came to the world. Destruction of most of Europe in the second world war it came because there was someone who believed he was a god and made it clear that his party, National Socialism, was part of the godhead, and that the Aryan race, pure and perfect, was superior to all other races in the world. That is why they could be imprisoned, imprisoned in large concentration camps millions of people, Jews, Roma, people with physical disabilities, and eliminate them.
That’s why they could attack countries and conquer them citizens into a regime of terror. On the other hand, drug traffickers have money as a god and therefore believe that this false god allows them, empowers their worshipers to kill anyone in order to keep possession of that ill-gotten wealth. These last two examples among many show us that idolatry does much harm to mankind. If we all glorified one God in three persons and loved him with all our hearts, there would not be so many misfortunes in the world. We would be truly happy, and justice, peace and justice would reign in humanity. Solidarity, brotherhood. And life would always be respected.
