What’s going on at the mansion? Former employees of the Manor branch in Lausanne were harassed by their manager between 2020 and 2023, two former employees told Blick. The documents support their claims and show that their superiors knew about the bullying. Spicy: Despite a long process, no action was taken against the administrator as a result.

Now comes the next case: Since the article was published, 11 more employees have reported to Blick – all working at the Manor branch in Geneva, which employs a total of 100 people. The allegations are frightening: “bullying”, “abuse”, “not providing assistance”, “retaliatory measures in case of sick leave or disagreement”, “threat”, “oppression”, “violation of personal integrity”.

“We can’t take it anymore, we’re going through hell,” an employee on the phone complains to Blick. At the Mansion branch in Geneva, he and his colleagues were having outbursts of anger by a supervisor named SM* who was described as “choleric”.

insults over and over

Employees repeatedly cite “retaliatory measures” and derogatory comments they describe as “degrading” after sick leave. CS*, a salesperson on this team, says everything has been going on for a long time. “Almost ten years.” His daily life is terrible. CS wishes to remain anonymous “for fear of retaliation”.

Blick was able to view several documents related to the case. The six letters state that the manager repeatedly “did not forward certain medical orders to the Mansion headquarters”. From where? According to one of the letters, SM felt that “these do not reflect the true reason for absenteeism.”

As reported by CS, it is said that in day-to-day work, SM regularly threatens his team with being sacked. A letter seen by Blick states that SM requested a “photo of an employee’s vomit” to prove he was sick and lying in bed.

“Start doing your makeup to find someone!”

Another employee of the retail giant, who describes himself as “devastated” by his “bullying” situation, reports very humiliating practices that undermine employee self-confidence.

As an example, he cites a dialogue between SM and a sick colleague who suffers from gastroenteritis. “That’s fine, you’ll lose weight that way,” he is said to reply. She also told one team member, “Start putting your makeup on so you can find someone.”

mystery whistleblower

But what prompted employees to take action now, more than a decade later? CS says the idea came about almost a year ago, when a mysterious informant left a letter in the hallways of Manor Geneva. The page was signed by an “anonymous worker in need”. Indicates bad behavior of store managers. See the document.

“Disrespect”, “inappropriate statements”, “psychological pressure on employees” – the allegations listed in this article titled “Emergency call” are innumerable. The purpose of the whistleblower: employees must stay together and report “unacceptable” actions.

It is not yet clear who is behind the action. Copies were distributed in places not under video surveillance and were quickly removed by management. But an insider said the call paid off as it persuaded workers to organize.

“We tremble for our work,” says CS. Your team appreciates the work and needs money: “But the employees are at the end of their power.” The situation is also sad for customers because customer service suffers as a result.

nepotism problem

But why hasn’t Manor headquarters responded until now? As reported by four insider Blick, SM is said to have top support within Manor Geneva. The manager must have a special affinity with his manager. They regularly went to ice hockey games and ate at a restaurant together every day.

The HR department of the Geneva facility is said to be well aware of the situation. However, according to four insiders, his hands were tied. “When we contacted HR, they told us they know everything but they can’t do anything because our manager is protected by management,” Blick says in a letter.

However, the employees are determined not to sit idle anymore. The team is managed by a union. CS reported that approximately 30 employees reported the above-mentioned events on the standalone Integrity24 platform. The file went to Manor’s human resources department in Basel on 4 May as per the procedure of this platform.

“We treat all our employees equally”.

Can Manor confirm that the company has received statements from several employees complaining about the behavior of managers? If yes, have steps been taken to verify the facts presented and ensure employee well-being? Manor applies the Data Protection Act at Blick’s request. The store says it “does not tolerate any form of harassment” through its spokesperson.

Manor also denies any preferential treatment. “We treat all our employees equally,” says a spokesperson. “We take the well-being of our employees very seriously, which is particularly reflected in our code of conduct, our values and the many channels of communication that allow everyone to express themselves and give feedback at all times. If desired, also anonymously – through a particularly neutral platform and an outsourced service.» The store promises that all such feedback will be taken into account and analyzed objectively – appropriate measures will be taken.
