Switzerland is worried about the consequences of inflation. Low-income people are particularly afraid of financial losses, as one study shows (Iconic image).

Inflation is currently the number one concern for Swiss residents. According to a survey by the comparison portal Comparis, 69 percent in this country are afraid of inflation, and even more are worried about global inflation.

According to the study’s authors, this issue has thus replaced concerns about climate change. Last December, this was still the top responder, now in third place with 65 percent.

According to the survey, 72 percent of respondents felt that the rise in prices, particularly heating energy prices as well as other costs, was strong to very strong in their household budgets. “Increased costs are directly noticed when shopping for groceries, paying monthly rent and health insurance, and booking vacations,” said Michael Kuhn of Comparis in a press release.

According to the consumer expert, this affects the mood of the population: more than one in four people in Switzerland expect their financial situation to worsen this year compared to the previous year.

However, a gap is widening between the rich and the poor: Those with a monthly gross salary of 4,000 francs or less reported that they had to turn over every franc significantly more often (40%) and had to cut back too much. able to pay all bills.

For middle-income earners, who earn between 4,000 and 8,000 francs, this figure drops to 19 percent. On the other hand, people with a salary of more than 8,000 francs said they only had to save four percent of the time.

In addition, almost half of high income earners expect a pay rise or higher bonus for the current year. In the case of low income earners, it is only 22 percent. “Even in the current economic situation with high inflation, low income earners have to struggle the most,” says the expert.
