The message is written and sent quickly – and immediately after it is sent, a typo catches the eye. The WhatsApp messaging service now offers a solution: Messages can now be edited 15 minutes after being sent.
Previously, messages could only be deleted completely and resent. This is no longer necessary. Whatsapp writes “It’s very simple” in a blog post about the new revision functionality. To edit an already sent message, you need to touch and hold it and select “Edit” from the menu.
Mark Zuckerberg (39), head of technology group Meta, which also owns Whatsapp, shows the function in his Facebook profile.
If a message is edited later, the recipient will see it. The message is displayed as “processed”. However, the history of changes – exactly what was edited – is not visible.
According to Whatsapp, the function will be made available worldwide with immediate effect. It will take a few weeks to become available everywhere.
It was just days before Whatsapp overshadowed it with its latest innovation: As announced last week, individual conversations can now be blocked and thus hidden.
