Fabian Misteli (38) is going on vacation with his partner next week. The couple from the canton of Solothurn set off for Italy with a car and a sleeping tent in their trunk. Space in the car is limited. “I was looking for a rack that offers a lot of storage in the campground but saves space in the car,” says Misteli.
Misteli finds it in the e-commerce-welt.ch online shop. “I ordered folding shelves that fold like an accordion.” Misteli orders in February – early to ensure it arrives on shelves in time for the holiday in late May.
“After ordering, I didn’t hear anything at first,” Misteli recalls. When asked about the delivery date, he is told that he has to pay first. “I didn’t even know I had pre-ordered,” she says. Transfers CHF 85 to the online store on March 1.
10 days later, Misteli was delayed for the first time: “Unfortunately, our parent supplier has a delay,” says an email from Blick. When nothing happens for two more weeks, she asks in writing. Again, the online store talks about delivery bottlenecks. “As far as we know, your article will reach us shortly.”
It was at the end of March. Misteli has not hit the shelves to date. “At some point they stopped answering my emails and stopped answering my phones,” he says. “I think that’s totally wrong!”
In mid-May, almost three months after placing the order, Misteli gave up hope that her shelves would be delivered. Instead, it makes a written request for a refund. He’s not getting an answer.
But things start to move when Blick intervenes: “The racks are from an external warehouse and are out of stock,” the operators write on demand. “We have informed the customer that the product will be with him by the end of this week. He has now chosen to cancel and the purchase amount will be refunded to him.”
It seems doubtful whether delivery delays are the sole cause of the problem. It’s not the first time that the e-commerce-welt.ch online store has made negative headlines.
The site received only 2.1 out of 5 possible stars on the Trustpilot rating portal. Dozens of customers there describe experiences similar to Fabian Misteli’s. “Never again can it be more suspicious than this,” writes one user. “I’ve been waiting for my order for three months, it’s constantly being delayed, nobody can be reached by phone.”
The operators of the online store take the field against their customers on the evaluation page. “Can we still hope for your justice?” He says, for example, in response to negative reviews. In fact, elsewhere: “The ratings are not there to run any campaign of revenge.” Or: “We resolutely reject your bad words.” The company claims they had 10,000 satisfied customers in two years, but reached their limits due to growth.
“Kassensturz” has already reported on the store. According to the trade register, E-commerce-welt.ch GmbH is registered in Zurich. According to the trade registry, in addition to online trading, the company also operates a software and IT business and an advertising agency. Even though it is doubtful to enter the trade registry alone, there are frequent changes in the persons authorized to sign behind the company.
This raises suspicion that the bankruptcy is behind the company. Bankruptcy riders are on the rise as a wave of bankruptcies is spreading through the Swiss economy right now. They’re taking over companies on the edge of the abyss and squeezing them all the way: accumulating debt, stealing company inventory, deliberately bankrupting the company.
When e-commerce-welt.ch was asked about the allegations, it was stated that the employee named “Kassensturz” had left the company in the meantime. Looking at the trade registry, it appears to have been modified by someone who was previously involved in the company. Under these circumstances, customers are better advised to switch to other providers.
After months of delay, Fabian Misteli was inevitably forced to say: “I found an alternative in the Bauhaus.” Nothing stands in the way of a camping holiday in Italy.
