Large Swiss companies are looking for fewer staff. The number of vacancies decreased from 8,898 to below 9,000 in April. Compared to March, this is a 1.6 percent decrease. But it was significantly stronger in March, minus 6.7 percent. This is illustrated by an assessment of the 50 largest Swiss companies that the Indeed job portal regularly conducts for the AWP news agency.
For example, there are fewer vacancies at two retailers Coop and Migros. But together they still have more than 3,600 vacancies. The number of vacancies also fell at Swisscom, watch company Swatch and SBB. Significantly more job postings were posted at cooperative Fenaco and pharmaceutical company Roche.
In general, there were more options for puppies. Companies were increasingly looking for trainee students (+51.9%), trainees (+16.6%) or apprentices (+15.2%).
Despite the slight decline in open positions, the shortage of skilled workers remains a problem. The Swissstaffing Interim Industry Association reported on Friday that three out of four companies are complaining about difficulties hiring skilled workers. A few days ago, the employers’ association presented a plan of action to tackle the shortage of skilled workers. (pbe/SDA)
