State company sends mini-needles in mega-packaging

The yellow giant unveiled its new logo last week. But the new logo should be placed not only on post offices and letters, but also on employees. Swiss Post therefore sent a badge with the new logo to approximately 42,000 Swiss employees.

Nice thing. However: The needle, which is only one centimeter in size, is shipped in a box that is 15 times larger. This causes many postal workers to nod. “At the same time, everybody’s talking about environmental protection and cost savings …” says a reader who reports to Blick. Pin plus two greeting cards

Swiss Post describes the large packaging for the mini pin with two greeting cards attached. “Both cards are 15×15 centimeters in size. This explains why it is shipped in a cardboard box with the same dimensions and a height of about two centimeters,” a spokesperson said. Due to space, smaller packaging was “absolutely not possible”.

One of the two cards is a greeting card from Postmaster Roberto Cirillo (52), which aims to get employees in the mood for the upcoming 2024 anniversary. The second card is a folded card with a review of past Post logos. “It’s an important gesture for our employees,” says the Swiss Post.

Therefore no envelope

Furthermore, the state-owned company deliberately avoided the use of envelopes. “Any edged or pointed objects on envelopes can get caught in the sorters and the envelopes can be torn open,” the spokesperson explains. “We stick to our own rules.” The recyclable box was the best solution.

In the new logo, instead of “Die Post”, it can only be seen with a large black P – a red Swiss cross. The important “mail yellow” remains.

The new logo has been on the website since it was announced last week. However, full entry will take several years. After all, Swiss Post operates around 800 of its branches.
