Sicpa company has to pay 81 million francs due to corruption.

Vaud security paint company Sicpa was sentenced to pay a total of CHF 81 million for acts of corruption. The former sales manager of the company was sentenced to 170 days of conditional imprisonment.

Sicpa and his former convicted employee have declared that they will not challenge the criminal orders, the Federal Prosecutor’s Office announced on Thursday. This makes them legally binding.

The federal prosecutor’s office launched a corruption investigation against the company in 2015. In 2021, this was extended to the head of the company. The lawsuit against Sicpa’s CEO and main shareholder was dropped. However, the federal prosecutor compelled the applicant to pay part of the costs of the proceedings and did not pay him any compensation.

According to the federal prosecutor, the investigation involved bribery in various countries, including Brazil and Colombia. The company also specializes in the printing of securities, namely the printing of banknotes and identity documents. (SDA/kae)
