As a vacation and travel destination, Florida has always been one of the most popular destinations among Europeans. The “Sunshine State” impresses with warm temperatures all year round, approximately 360 days of sunshine per year, and 2000 kilometers of beautiful coastline. There are also many world-famous tourist destinations that attract millions of tourists every year. Owning a home and investing in where others vacation – even starting fresh and living the famous American dream: Florida promises that to many.

Has Florida Increased in Popularity?
During the corona pandemic, there has been a surge in companies relocating from northern US cities to Florida. Today comes European companies fleeing the uncertain economic situation. Florida has a dynamic market and a business-friendly climate.

Is buying an apartment or house there a good investment?
Definitely. After the financial crisis of 2007/08 and a small decline in 2011/12, as early as 2018, the price level returned to 2006 levels. 21. On average, we experienced an influx of close to a thousand people a day, which caused property prices to increase by 30 to 45 percent – ​​depending on location and location – in a comparison between 2021 and 2023. Of course, there is no upper limit. Let me give you a hint, though: On a budget of around $500,000, you have a smaller detached house with a pool at hand. For such a price you don’t have direct access to the water, but at least the sea is nearby.

Can you tell us about your real estate offer?
There is everything from very exclusive locations to affordable spaces. The customer base is also very different. Professional real estate investors have a middle-class family who want to fulfill their dream of owning a summer home in Florida and using it as an investment at the same time. Expert advice and analysis of wishes and possibilities is therefore very important from the very beginning so that there are no surprises later. That’s why our first meeting with the customer is definitely the most important.

What type of property is particularly popular among European women?
If we take as an example a medium-sized client from Europe who also wants to use the house for their own private use, then the light, “coastal style” is particularly popular: pastel colors and palm trees with a nautical-inspired beach decor. There are many properties dating from the 1960s that were primarily used as vacation homes for the so-called Snowbirds. These are tourists from the north who spend the cold winter months in Florida. Renovation of such «Fixer Upper» houses is very popular. We also transform these old houses from A to Z. In such cases, our company works with local renovation experts.

How does the market differ from the situation in Switzerland?
A long-term property is bought in Switzerland, this is the main difference. In America, people change more often. The biggest difference in terms of the market is that the real estate agent can access and offer all properties to the client, even those that are not directly listed by him or his company. This of course opens up many more possibilities and leads to a very dynamic market. Prices are pretty low on average. But it also depends on the location of the property.

What are the pitfalls to avoid in such real estate investments abroad?
For example, if the property is to be leased as an investment, the property seller needs to know the circumstances in detail – for example, laws and local conditions – in order to be able to give the client the right advice. The same is true for construction and innovation projects. Each community has its own unique requirements. So, as mentioned, the first client conversation is absolutely essential. Florida politics is dominated by Republicans, and Governor Ron DeSantis is said to be ambitious for the US presidency. Does this political climate add to the Sunshine State’s appeal – or does it push some people away as well?
Governor Ron DeSantis is a godsend for the Sunshine State. His continued boom, economic situation, and personal success clearly show that his policies are moving in the right direction, even attracting people and companies to Florida. Therefore, it is not surprising that he is an absolutely viable candidate for the presidency. But that would be a shame, because then the state would lose him as governor!

Besides your career as a singer, you want to do real estate consulting. Does your reputation help you attract customers?
I lived and worked in Florida for ten years. We ran a real estate, rental and property management company there. This know-how and many years of local professional network motivated me to found Florida Immobilien Consulting a good year ago. We were able to make the Florida dream of some of our very satisfied customers possible without any unpleasant surprises. Customers came with recommendations.
How did you decide to enter the real estate business?
A job should be a calling. And to gain recognition, you have to deliver quality. I love both jobs because there are parallels too: the focus is people. How happy I am when I see a happy and applauding audience, like when I experience the happiness of people who can enter their dream home for the first time.
