Priska Schoch: Gryps co-founder Gaby Stäheli was fascinated by the idea of offering an internet service. He googled overnight until he found what he was looking for in the US: the comparison of offers for companies had already proven itself there. We checked the idea, created a business and financial plan and launched our service portal for SMEs. However, you must remember that in this country – especially in terms of the Internet – it is a completely different time.
Our main goal is to enable SMEs to manage these areas themselves on a daily basis. Or helping SMEs find product or service providers if they don’t want to do it themselves. We always say: Big companies, for example; B. HR or finance professionals, SMEs have the flu. Specifically, we offer our clients a wide variety of content, guides and services on our platform, such as our offer comparison, tools such as checklists, a large number of templates or sample contracts.
A company is hiring for the first time and has to conclude an employment contract, have insurance and pay a monthly fee. At Gryps the company will find an employment contract template with lots of tips and a good overview of which insurance policies should be issued. By comparing offers, the company can also get quotes for insurance companies and find a trustee for fee processing. In short: everything an SME needs.
In fact, in smaller SMEs with 1 to 25 employees, additional duties are often the boss’s job as they are important or costly things. But because company bosses have to deal with their main business during the day, we often get their questions late in the evening or on the weekend. These are the right Uff moments for them: It should be, but I actually don’t like it! We solve these SMB problems almost overnight. We want to be a kind of friend to them by relieving them of stress, pressure and insecurity.
If an SME does not have enough know-how or time, we will help find providers from whom this field can be outsourced. The same is true for more complex issues where our tools fail, we’ll also put you in touch with the appropriate provider. We currently have a pool of 4000 providers to choose from.
Foreigners may have the impression: you can buy a copy machine, find a trustee or get insurance, you can do it yourself. But you have to be clear: Anyone who runs a company immediately understands how complicated it all is because there are so many different things to think about. What do I need, who can deliver it to me and how much does it cost? In the field of tried and tested offers used by many SMEs, SMEs will find more than 2000 pages of purchasing guides, cost planners and suitable providers. In shopping guides, we provide information on the most important price drivers, modules and functions, provide shopping tips, and use cost planners to show what costs to expect. Finding the right provider or supplier is usually not that easy and requires a lot of research. Gryps knows the market and takes care of this search. We clarify the needs of the SME and on this basis we look for the right providers – fast, uncomplicated and free for the SME.
Take an SMB with fault-prone IT. The old server needs to be replaced and also outsourced to the cloud. The customer wants an IT partner on equal terms and finds what he is looking for in Gryps. In requirements control SME answers a few simple questions. If necessary, our purchasing specialists will then clarify a few detailed questions in a short phone call. Gryps then looks for three providers that match the criteria received. They contact the customer, give advice and bid. The SME can use information from Gryps and interviews with experts to define needs more precisely and ultimately decide on one of the providers.
When comparing offers, insurance companies, trust companies, cash registers, IT service, application development, coffee machines and web design are the most frequently requested. In addition, many other products play an important role, such as payroll, time registration, copiers, IT outsourcing; Products and services that are complex, costly and not purchased every year. When it comes to services, we’re already seeing an increase in webinars, checklists and templates, and monthly newsletters, with nearly 50,000 SMBs subscribed.
Both give us the opportunity to address current developments such as the shortage of skilled workers or sustainability. The newsletter covers upcoming events and recurring topics such as tax returns or annual financial statements. In the webinars, we cover basic topics like salary negotiations or employee management, as well as trending topics like digitalization that many people are still confused about. Specifically, the forthcoming data protection regulation: For many SMEs this is a closed book and yet as an entrepreneur you must ensure that the legal points are followed.
Very important. Because we face the same challenges as other SMEs. In other words: we treat our customers equally. We are also in a lively exchange with the entire SME world. We find it very pleasing that these companies, which are very important for Switzerland, are doing. There is great power. We at Gryps want to be a catalyst for them.
