French Bernard Arnault is the richest person in the world with approximately 228 billion francs.

Bernard Arnault (74) has everything you could want – a little bit! It includes an empire, an island in the Caribbean, a stately home not far from Paris, a luxury yacht, and a tennis rival in Swiss Roger Federer, who has been world ranking leader for years.

According to the US magazine “Forbes”, the Frenchman’s fortune is about 228 billion francs, making him the richest person in the world. With his money, he bought the luxury jewelry chain Tiffany in 2019.

Retirement is not a problem

The engineering graduate laid the foundation stone of his empire by building and selling vacation homes, first in France and then in the USA. With his first billion, the French entered the luxury goods group Louis Vuitton, abbreviated as Moët Hennessy – LVMH. Arnault now owns almost half of the group’s shares and most of the voting rights.

But the billionaire is far from thinking about retirement. Increased the age limit for CEOs at LVMH from 75 to 80.

Private jet resold

He can afford anything he wants: tennis lessons with his favorite player, Roger Federer (41) for example. Or a private jet he sold after environmental activists’ criticism. Falcon 7X cost the manufacturer about 40 million francs. So little more than the island of Indigo Island in the Bahamas, which the French bought for 35 million francs. He can go to this island with his luxury yacht “Symphony”. The ship cost 150 million CHF.

The empire also has a magnificent villa at Clairefontaine-en-Yvelines, near Paris, and St. Tropez has a stylish holiday home for about 60 million francs.

Meanwhile, Arnault is not only generous with himself, but also likes to donate: around 170 million francs for the Getty Museum in New York or 200 million francs for the reconstruction of Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris.
