The Swiss economy is on the move! From large companies to SMEs and individual companies: After the Corona crisis, things are really picking up again. They want to expand the business. 44 percent of companies planned this for 2023. Just: This needs staffing. And Swiss companies are really missing out on that right now. All sectors complain about the shortage of qualified personnel.

76% of companies have difficulty filling positions. This is the result of the latest employment survey by recruiter Manpower. Employees in the IT and telecommunications sectors, healthcare and energy sectors are particularly in demand. For example, solar energy systems specialists. Intense efforts are being made in this area to intensify education in the country. However, it will take years for them to bear fruit. However, demand for solar systems is currently at record highs. Do something?

deep unemployment

Attract skilled workers from abroad to Switzerland! And certainly not just for the solar industry. Swiss companies rely on cross-border recruitment across the board. According to the research, one in two companies wants to hire skilled workers from abroad in the next 12 months. Especially with low unemployment in Switzerland. Only 26 percent of companies can trust staff residing in Switzerland.

Also, companies that are desperately looking for good people want to put themselves in a better place. 38 percent of companies state that they make employment more attractive with flexible working hours and part-time work. So offer the opportunity to work from home, longer maternity leave or annual working hours. One in three companies attract talented people with money.

Creativity and team spirit sought

But Manpower research also shows that companies don’t have a hard time finding employees with not only technical skills. The demand for social skills is also high. Employees with creative and social skills such as creativity, teamwork, adaptability and leadership potential are rare in the job market.

“In the era of digital transformation, which brings changes in business processes and methods, traits such as willingness to change, creativity and the ability to work in a team are required,” says Jan Jacob (43), Managing Director of Manpower. . “It’s the only way to successfully shape change.”
