This is illustrated by the latest figures on Swiss online trading from Handelsverband.swiss, market research firm GfK and Swiss Post, which were released to the media on Wednesday. Accordingly, online sales in 2022 decreased by 2.8 percent to 14 billion Swiss Francs.
When broken down into domestic and international purchases, the decline in online domestic consumption was 2.4 percent on an annual basis. In fact, the Swiss population bought 5 percent less goods and goods from abroad than in 2021.
However, the long-term trend is still up. Online purchases have increased by a third since 2019. However, in the same period, the share of sales made from overseas internet stores stagnated. In particular, direct purchases from Asian suppliers decreased here.
