The rail operator carried around 828,000 passengers in the fiscal year ending in late October. That’s almost 64 percent more than a year ago, as the company announced on Thursday. However, of the record 1.24 million passengers in 2018/19, there are about a third fewer guests.
According to the communique, the global travel market is recovering fast from the corona pandemic and international guests are coming back. Even during the crisis, the strategy of being present and active in many markets bears fruit.
According to the information obtained, the number of individual passengers from Switzerland and surrounding countries was fixed at a high level. At the same time, many travelers from all over the world benefited from easier travel conditions, sometimes resulting in higher visitor numbers than before the pandemic.
Against this background, traffic revenue nearly doubled to CHF 33.2 million. Revenue from restaurants and hotels more than doubled the previous year, with 10.9 million. Overall, operating income increased 39 percent to 53.5 million.
Operating expenses increased by only 25 percent to 36.9 million. Titlis Bergbahnen thus made a profit of 3.3 million francs for the first time since the outbreak of the corona pandemic. The company had lost 5 million francs last year due to the pandemic.
