These ski areas are finally opening!

Finally there is snow at lower altitudes and temperatures are slowly falling into the winter range. This pleases operators of small and medium ski areas. Some may finally open their slopes to paying customers. However, others are still hesitant.

Because a ski slope needs much more than snow. He has to sit first. Temperatures also need to stay low for a certain period of time. Only then can the fields prepare the slopes with heavy machinery. And artificial snow when needed.

These ski areas will open in the coming days:

Minschuns – Val Mustair GR

The small ski area with only three lifts has been closed since the beginning of the week due to lack of snow. Thanks to the already expected snow, the ski area will open from next Sunday, January 15.

Axalp – Brienz BE

The Axalp-Brienz region in the Bernese Oberland experienced a similar situation. After the feast, he had to stop his activities. The runways are now open again. But only at lower altitudes. It’s snowing above. But it’s still very windy right now. Snow on unprepared slopes is literally blown away by the wind. But when asked by Blick, they are optimistic. When the wind subsides, the higher slopes open up.

Pany GR

The small chairlift in Pany GR has long been considered the last fighter among the small ski areas in the canton of Graubünden. Then the little chairlift had to close on Monday after all. But it won’t take long. The Pany will remain closed until the end of next week, but just so as not to ruin the fresh snow again. All slopes should be ready for the weekend. The people at Pany are optimistic: “We’re not giving up! But you need a short timeout,” says the website.

Fideriser Heuberge GR

At Fideriser Heuberge one is sure that it can open soon. With a little luck, some slopes may open tomorrow, as early as Wednesday. Maybe it will take until the weekend. Everything stops and falls with snow and heat.

Mörlialp-Giswil OW

From Wednesday 11 January, the lift with handles in Giswil will be opened as a first step. If snow conditions permit, other lifts and slopes will be followed as soon as possible.
