This year, too, the military is supporting the civilian authorities of the canton of Graubünden in carrying out their security duties at the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF).
The assistance service of up to 5000 military personnel has been approved by parliament for the annual meetings of WEF 2022-2024, as the Department of Defense (VBS) website writes.
3000 first class guests expected
In 2023, the meeting will run from January 16-20. Ten days before the start of the forum, the army began construction work in Davos. Around 3000 international participants from business, politics, science and society are expected at the DEF. The guiding principle for 2023 is “Collaboration in a Fragmented World”. The official guest list is not yet known.
Anti-WEF protests announced
DEF also causes criticism. At the request of Keystone-SDA, Davos clerk Michael Straub on Friday said that two rally requests have been received by the community so far. One comes from Juso Graubünden, who wants to hold a rally on January 15 in Davos town hall square.
The collective “WEF WEF” also submitted an application. “Like in 2022 and 2020, we will march to Davos together in January. We are marching against capitalism, the climate crisis and the growing injustice in the world,” the collective writes.
