The canton reported on Thursday that an above-average number of guests from Spain and Italy are visiting the Christmas market in the city on the Rhine. The market lasted from the end of November to Friday, December 23 and took place at Barfüsserplatz and Münsterplatz.
The organizer of the English Plants Christmas market in Geneva also pleased. During the Advent season, around 400,000 people enjoyed the atmosphere at 60 booths. The “only downside” was the weather, with about a third of rainy days, according to the organizer.
In Berne, the organizers of the star market strike a “very positive balance”. By the end of the year there are 76 clubs in Kleine Schanze for this market. There is great relief that the Christmas market on the Münsterplatz in Bern is no longer restricted. “Sales in 2022 are probably comparable to pre-Corona sales,” the organizer told the Keystone-SDA news agency.
A spokesperson said, upon request, that the organizers of the Christkindlimarkt in Chur registered as many visitors as before the corona pandemic.
The spokesperson said it was a pity that there were fewer booths than usual this year. At the best of times there were 40 booths, this year there were only 30. Some would not survive the Corona crisis.
