Elon Musk (51) should no longer be the Twitter boss! That’s what the Twitter community decided on Monday in a poll conducted by Musk himself. 57.5 percent voted to leave Musk. A total of more than 17.5 million Twitter users took part in the survey.
According to Musk, the result of the survey is binding. “I will stick to the results of this survey,” he writes. It remains unclear when Musk will leave his post.
But what about Twitter now? After all, the platform still belongs to Musk. According to him, hard work has no successor. “Nobody wants the business that can really keep Twitter afloat,” Musk tweeted. She hasn’t commented on Twitter since the poll ended.
Tesla is losing value
Musk appears to have gambled by buying Twitter for $44 billion at the end of October. Because its other companies, first and foremost e-mobile maker Tesla, are suffering. Its stock has lost nearly half of its value since Twitter’s initial takeover bids in April. In the past week alone, Tesla’s share price has dropped 11.5 percent.
Musk’s wealth is also dwindling. Musk sold a large number of shares of Tesla to finance the acquisition of Twitter. His fortune has dropped by nearly $70 billion since April. In fact, Musk was deposed on Forbes magazine’s rich list. He is no longer the richest man in the world.
Controversial innovations
Musk has been making waves on the platform ever since he took over Twitter. Just Sunday, Twitter announced that in the future it will ban its users from posting links to competing online platforms such as Instagram and Facebook. This caused criticism.
Donald Trump’s activation of his Twitter profile was also heavily criticized. The former US President has not yet broken his silence on Twitter. Musk again responded to a survey. The Twitter community narrowly voted in favor of deactivating Trump’s profile.
