Coop clearly takes energy conservation seriously. Blick knows from an employee in the canton of Schwyz that the heating is largely switched off in all Coop stores. “We only have 16 degrees in the store and we’re all shaking,” he says. They all worked with thick jackets. “Customers complain too.”
He says the decision to turn the heating down so drastically came “from the very top”. However, the employees were not informed. “We all wondered why it was suddenly so cold.”
Voluntary energy saving measures
Coop justifies himself. “We’ve been implementing voluntary energy saving measures for some time,” said a Blick spokesperson. It is important that Coop contributes to the current situation with various measures.
“Temperatures in offices, stores, logistics and warehouses have been reduced to 19 degrees Celsius,” he says. This was communicated to the employees beforehand. “We are currently not aware of any complaints from customers,” he says.
