Switzerland, an Alpine country full of dead spots? Not at all! German trade magazine “Connect” published the results of its annual mobile phone test Tuesday night and found nothing but praise for Switzerland. The country indicates what requirements can be placed on the network. In particular, the difference between city and country is much less pronounced in Switzerland than in Germany and Austria.
Industry magazine takes a close look at individual providers’ cell phone networks. Swisscom and Sunrise’s mobile networks were once again rated as “outstanding”. But Salt is clearly getting closer to the other two telecom providers.
Fifth consecutive win for industry leader Swisscom. With 970 points out of a possible 1000 (976 in the previous year), the “blue giant” landed just ahead of its rival Sunrise, which scored 959 points (966). The loss of ground by both telecom providers compared to the previous year is mainly due to the tightening of testing criteria.

With an “outstanding” test rating, Swisscom and Sunrise are among the top providers in the German-speaking world.
Salt does not need to be stored either. With a score of 945, the company’s mobile network is only marginally worse. It missed the “Extraordinary” test rating by just under 5 points. Especially in big cities, Salt is almost on the same level as Sunrise. Sunrise and Salt differ only slightly when it comes to data usage through apps, messengers or streaming. Swisscom is “a hair’s lead” in this category, according to the test.
As for the data radio on the train, it even managed to beat Salt Sunrise. But the difference is only a few points.
Significant increases in 5G
The expansion of 5G is currently in full swing in Switzerland. “All Swiss providers have taken a significant step forward in 5G expansion – The most obvious is Salt,” writes “Connect” author Hannes Rügheimer in a statement.
“Connect” testers traveled 6,700 kilometers in Switzerland for testing. These include trips by car, long-distance train journeys and raids on nine cities on foot. According to the magazine, the measurement campaign covered about a quarter of the Swiss population. Testing took place from the end of October to the beginning of November this year. (SDA/sfa)
