Will the deal with the Swiss pilots be overturned at the last second?

For weeks the signs had been pointing to Zoff! The Aeropers pilots union has threatened to go on strike during the autumn holidays of all days. Rationale: The parties could not agree on a new collective bargaining agreement (GAV). At the end of October, an agreement was reached with the Swiss leadership around CEO Dieter Vranckx (49). breathe easy

But now the happy ending is starting to crack. Aeropers announced that they will allow 1,300 members to decide on the GAV by the end of the year. Meanwhile, in pilot circles, Aeropers is no longer expected to bring the GAV to the finish line as announced by the end of the year.

To date, pilots only know the key figures of the deal: 2.3 percent more wages and 2 percent cost-of-living compensation. They should also receive their listing on the 18th instead of the 25th.

Resistance forms in the cockpit

Aeropers are still belligerent at Blick’s request. It is currently assumed that the new GAV will be decided by the end of 2022 and will enter into force on 1 January 2023. The same can be said for the Swiss.

One thing is clear: time is of the essence. The GAV must be ready by 1 December for voting to end on 31 December. Because the comment and voting period is at least 30 days.

Some pilots are getting new hopes from the impending delay. They are dissatisfied with their union’s agreement and claim that the Aeropers board has been defrauded.

Several pilots have confirmed to Blick over the past few days that they will reject the GAV. They’re even rehearsing the uprising. In the cockpit – during the flight – they try to talk to their colleagues.

Retroactive application possible

But so far, there is no sign that more than half of the 1,300 members who voted will be able to reject the compromise. The longer the delay, the longer it will take for the critics to convince their colleagues.

A delay in the GAV alone will not be a reason for renegotiations. According to Aeropers, the contract is enforceable retroactively in this case.
