Yoon said in an online conversation with Musk on Wednesday that South Korea has world-class investment conditions and a “premier industrial vehicle ecosystem.”
Musk said he sees South Korea as one of the top candidates for investment locations. He will decide after examining investment conditions in other Asian countries, including the labor market and production environment.
According to the information obtained, the president of the American electric car manufacturer also expressed his intention to invest in charging infrastructure in South Korea. Tesla already supplies components for autonomous driving and artificial intelligence from South Korea. His company expects shipments from South Korea to be worth more than $10 billion next year.
Among other things, the e-car pioneer has a factory in Grünheide in Brandenburg, where production officially began in March. The company currently produces around 2000 cars per week at its only factory in Europe.
