The flood of packages for Black Friday begins. One is surprisingly dissatisfied with this. DPD Switzerland boss Tilmann Schultze complains about the parcel flood. There is a lot of return because people buy more than they need. “Measures are needed to address this.”
It’s helpful for some online retailers to introduce returns that incur a fee. As the head of a package delivery service, he’s happy with the good work. In an interview with Tamedia newspapers on Wednesday, Schultze said he should ask himself whether parcel flooding as a citizen makes sense given climate change. “As our DPD barometer shows, Switzerland has the highest rate of return in Europe.”
50 percent more packages than other days
According to Schultze, DPD carries 50 percent more parcels on sale days and during the pre-Christmas period and the so-called “peak period” than on other days. 180,000 packages are waiting for Black Friday. He also doesn’t want to know anything about the consumer’s cloudy weather: “On the contrary: the Christmas business will be fine.” (SDA)
