Alpiq Vice President expects ongoing power outage

All of Switzerland’s neighboring countries still depend heavily on gas-fired power stations for electricity generation. If gas supplies to Europe become blocked in one of the coming winters, it will inevitably be a problem for Switzerland as well. Switzerland is very closely linked to Europe when it comes to electricity.

When asked what to do about the blackout, Wider said Switzerland should use electricity much more efficiently. Production capacities need to be expanded as quickly as possible. Alpiq is involved in 4 of the 15 projects discussed at the hydropower roundtable.

These systems will increase the security of supply, especially during the winter months. No early should be fully open. Winter is still long. Just last Friday, the French electricity operator spoke about the increased risk of supply bottlenecks in the winter. Some nuclear power plants take a long time to maintain.
