A Zurich gastronomic icon is closing with Bevlvoirpark. “Closing is inevitable,” explains Fred Heinzelmann, Belvoirpark AG Delegate. The Belvoirpark restaurant is in disrepair and its infrastructure is no longer up to date. The restaurant was originally supposed to be closed for renovations by the end of 2024 at the latest.
But now nothing will come of it. The house will close its doors at the end of this year. “The decision was not easy for us,” says Heinzelmann. In the last few weeks, intense efforts have been made to find solutions to keep operations running. However, the restaurant can no longer be operated profitably until the end of 2024. “Two years of Corona have already left economic scars,” he says.
Gastrosuisse companies
The city of Zurich has owned the villa since 1901, which was built between 1828 and 1831. In 1925 the villa was converted into an innkeeper’s college with a restaurant. The tenant and operator of the restaurant is Belvoirpark AG. It is a company of the Swiss Hotel and Restaurant Industry Association Gastrosuisse.
Belvoirpark AG has prepared a social plan. It is checked whether and to what extent staff can be recruited in the school operations of the hotel management school. (be)
