Travelers to Switzerland have to change trains more often

“The punctuality of international trains from Germany north via Basel to Switzerland has declined in recent months,” said an SBB spokesperson for the dpa news agency. Recently, only 40 percent came with a maximum delay of five minutes.

“If an ICE is more than 10 to 15 minutes late to the Basel SBB, it loses its place,” the spokesperson said. Finally, the delay also affects passengers who want to use the train between Basel and Zurich in Switzerland, for example.

Therefore, SBB replaced the delayed train in domestic traffic with its own wagons. The delayed DB train then ends at Basel SBB. Deutsche Bahn acknowledged the problems. A spokesperson said he regretted the “operational situation in cross-border traffic between Switzerland and Germany”.
