Passengers will be happy: These are what’s new in the Fairtiq ticket application

When it was launched in 2018, the Fairtiq app was a real revolution for public transport commuters, families and day trippers: the passenger marks the entry and exit point and the app calculates the cheapest combination of route and zone fares for them. Payment is made at the end of the day.

Now there are innovations: Users will now be able to check in dogs and bikes as well as people. They will all automatically receive the correct ticket at the best possible price, the company announced Monday.

Available across the GA network

There are 560,000 dogs living in Switzerland, and cycling is one of Mr. and Mrs. Schweizer’s most popular means of transportation. There’s no doubt there’s a market here. A user can now check in up to five dogs or up to five bikes using the mobility app. “The new transport functionality for bikes and dogs fits perfectly into the reality of life for many people traveling by bus and train,” says Gian-Mattia Schucan, founder and co-CEO of Fairtiq.

The new function will be automatically activated in the Fairtiq app; no separate activation required. At least application version 7.1.0 must be installed. Fairtiq says that initially the new service will be available across the entire GA network in Switzerland and Liechtenstein. It is also planned to expand the takeaway function in certain regions of Germany in the near future. (nim)
