Stefan Fraude will no longer be CEO of Media Markt Switzerland.

And another one is gone: Media Markt Switzerland boss Stefan Fraude has resigned from his position. A spokesperson for the home electronics chain confirmed this to industry magazine “CE Today.” He was in office for just over a year. In the statement made by the company, it was stated that Fraude “left the company at his own request to take on new challenges outside the Media Markt Saturn Group.” A phrase often used in departure announcements.

Interesting: When Fraude took office, she assured Blick that she would stay for the long haul. Even though Media Markt knows that Switzerland has burned eight CEOs in just 13 years. There has been a chair change almost every year for the last seven years.

Despite the many changes, Fraude did not believe that the boss position was an ejection seat, on the contrary: “This is a great opportunity for me, I love challenges!”

Just gone. Anyone who tries to call him on his cell phone gets nowhere. Starting next month, CEO Jan Niclas Brandt from Media Markt Austria will also take over the business in Switzerland. Turbulent times are likely to continue. A new sales manager is also starting in Switzerland.

There should be no change in strategic direction: expansion of the product range, reduction of overly large sales areas, greater digitalization and expansion of the online sales share.

The home electronics industry in Switzerland is under pressure. Sales vary significantly online. Digitec Galaxus, Interdiscount and Fust relegated Media Markt to the bottom of the list. Microspot.ch is closed. The future of Migros Elektronik, which has closed its branches, is uncertain. Migros wants to decide by the summer what happens next for its home electronics chain, or better yet, whether things will continue for Melectronics. (rul/uro)
