Switzerland is looking for a new CEO. Former chief executive Dieter Vranckx (51) will be appointed to the board of directors of the Lufthansa Group’s “Global Markets and Commercial Management Centres”. That is, as of July 1, 2024. It is not yet clear who his successor will be.
Vranckx, who has been CEO for more than three years, will also be a member of the Swiss Board of Directors in the future. He will serve as vice president. «I look forward to the new challenge and to using my international experience in the Lufthansa management team for the entire group in the future. But Switzerland is and remains a subject close to my heart; This is my home,” says Dieter Vranckx. “That’s why it means a lot to me to remain closely connected with Switzerland in the future.”
Dieter Vranckx took over the top position of Switzerland’s leading airline at a very difficult time – in the middle of the pandemic. Reto Francioni (68), Chairman of the Swiss Board of Directors, speaks highly of his departed colleague: “He achieved great success with his team. “Not only did he lead our airline out of the global pandemic crisis quickly, successfully and competitively, but he also contributed to the stabilization of Switzerland.”
The current CEO, after much back and forth, was also able to celebrate the successful conclusion of collective bargaining agreements with the social partners of employees on the ground, in the cockpit and in the cabin.
