Former US President Donald Trump (77) is offering his own branded sneakers for $399 at a sneaker fair, a day after the $355 million verdict awarded to him.
When Trump presented his sneakers, the first official Trump shoes, on the small stage at the trade show in Philadelphia, he was greeted with loud boos and cheers.
The patriotic shoes, with gold high-tops and a US flag on the back, are marketed under the name “Never Surrender High-Tops”. This can roughly be translated as “never give up high heels.”
Cost: $399 per pair, available to order from Trump’s own sneaker website. Trump also praises his own perfume and cologne, Victory 47. $99 per bottle.
47? If Trump is re-elected in November, he will become the 47th president of the United States.
A judge in New York sentenced Trump to a whopping $355 million fine on Friday. The former president lied about his assets for years and deceived banks, insurance companies and other lenders and business partners by inflating his assets.
Additionally, author E. Jean Carroll must be paid $83.3 million in damages for sexual assault and defamation of character allegations. Trump objects, but with interest payments his legal debt could exceed half a billion dollars. Not only is the future of his business empire at stake, but his own future is also at stake.
Does he want to pay off his debt by selling sneakers and perfume? The sneaker’s website says the shoes are limited edition, numbered “true collector’s items,” and are “bold, gold, and tough, just like President Trump.”
“Never Surrender Sneakers are your battle cry in shoe form,” he says. “Lace them up and go out ready to conquer.”
