To become more financially sustainable: Cult brand Nikin lays off a quarter of its employees

Sustainability is generally a good thing, but it does not always apply to everyone: This is clearly seen in the example of clothing brand Nikin, which is especially popular with boys. The brand, which owns the small tree from the canton of Aargau, has created around 50 jobs in the last five years and is currently cutting around a quarter of the jobs.

This was reported by “20 Minutes” after a conversation with co-founder and CEO Nicholas Häny (32). “Yes, we decided to restructure,” he says. Concretely, this means that 12.2 full-time positions will be cut.

The brand plants a tree for every product sold, but the staff uses chainsaws and justifies this with sustainability. “We now had to make difficult but necessary decisions to follow our strategy to ensure a sustainable cost structure and a solid financial foundation,” says Häny.

A few weeks ago Häny decided to join the Green Liberal Party. Nikin’s CEO seems to be an environmentalist when it comes to environmental protection issues and quite liberal when it comes to optimizing the company’s costs. (Ah)
