Who does the massive Mateschitz legacy go to?

An energy drink made Dietrich Mateschitz († 78) the richest Austrian. According to the US magazine “Forbes”, his fortune is 27.8 billion euros. This puts him at 51st place in the global billionaire ranking.

Mateschitz never revealed how rich he was. He preferred to stay away from the public. He once explained to “Bloomberg Businessweek” why he mostly avoids red carpets: “When I go out, it’s just to convince myself I’m really not missing anything.”

Three main heirs?

It is unclear what will happen to billions after his death. According to Austrian media, three people close to him are possible main heirs. Firstly, his partner is Marion Feichtner (39). The travel agent has been with him all his life since 2009. Nothing more is known about him.

Anita Gerhardter (56) will also be heir. The former ski instructor and stewardess was in a relationship with Mateschitz for two years and is still president of the “Wings for Life” foundation to this day. She is also the mother of Mateschitz’s only son, Mark. The 29-year-old player is likely to be one of the heirs.

expensive hobby

There is simply no money to inherit, as Mateschitz invests it in companies, real estate, and extravagant hobbies. For example, in 2003 he put 10.1 million euros on the table to buy the private island “Laucala” in the South Pacific. However, do not claim them for yourself. It is a luxury resort with 25 private villas on it.

Mateschitz also owned numerous properties in his native Austria. According to “Bloomberg Businessweek” it should be 30. These include hotels, castles or an Aqualux thermal bath. He lived privately in a large villa.

In addition, he has an expensive hobby that he pursues. Mateschitz was a passionate collector of historical aircraft. They needed the space given to them in Hangar 7 in Salzburg. This includes a restaurant.

It remains to be seen how and among how many people all this will ultimately be divided. (a)
