Yesterday, that is, on January 24, two seizure notices against Dadvan Yousuf (23) for a total amount of just over 100,000 francs were published in the “Swiss Business Gazette” (SHAB).

Yousuf was known as a crypto genius. He claimed to have become a multimillionaire by investing in cryptocurrencies. His story was so beautiful that many wanted to believe it: As an eleven-year-old Iraqi refugee boy, he built his fortune in a parking lot in Ipsach on the shores of Lake Biel in 2011. There he sold all his toys; His Nintendo, his Pokémon, his memories and his puzzles. He used his income to buy his first 10 Bitcoins for 15 Euros. With further acquisitions and skillful trading of cryptocurrencies, he became a multimillionaire, even billionaire.

The public prosecutor initiated criminal proceedings

But the “Handelszeitung” soon found much that was not true in his story. For example, Yousuf, contrary to popular belief, had not even completed his KV apprenticeship. It was also reported that he purchased Bitcoin using a credit card on a platform that did not allow such transactions at the time. He later claimed that he made purchases on another platform with currencies that did not accept these currencies at that time. When Handelszeitung confronted him about this, he said he did not remember exactly.

Meanwhile, he continued to use his fame to promote his own cryptocurrency, Dohrnii. He made promises that would persuade investors to buy Dohrnii. In connection with Dohrnii, he established a foundation in 2021, which was liquidated in the spring of 2023. In May 2023, the Bern prosecutor’s office opened criminal proceedings against Yousuf for commercial fraud.

Two seizure notices

Yousuf is accused of, among other things, persuading investors to purchase his cryptocurrency Dohrnii with the help of various national and international media and at events. This without the intention behind it to actually realize the corresponding project. He also wanted to persuade investors to buy Dohrnii by deceiving them about an algorithm he invented for automated trading in cryptocurrencies.

And now seizure notifications. The IT company Saynode Operations AG is seeking the seizure of approximately 66,000 francs plus interest for Yousuf’s failure to pay invoices for software developments from summer 2022, as can be seen in the official gazette. It is also stated that a man named Johann Kappeler wants to obtain 38,000 francs through foreclosure. This debt arose from the “Termination Agreement” as stated in the “Official Gazette”.

Advert

Facing seizure notices, Yousf wrote in an email that he was still in court with the company Saynode. Lawsuits continue. He believes the court will decide that the claim “does not exist, or rather, it does not exist against me.” The claim exists because he submitted the bill late. Now he can deposit the amount to the debt collection agency. It will be blocked there until a final decision is made.

unknown place

Regarding Johann Kappeler’s claim, Yousuf writes that the claim has been legally recognized by the court decision and therefore can no longer be eliminated. “I will pay them accordingly.”

The seizure of both creditors will take place at nine o’clock on February 7 at the Seeland debt collection office. In the “Official Gazette”, Yusuf is informed that he has to attend the vigil or be represented. If he does not comply with this request, the seizure will be carried out in his absence at the Seeland debt collection office. After the expiration of the participation period, if the seized assets are not found, a seizure note will be issued or a damage certificate will be issued.

The “Official Gazette” indicates that the authorities do not currently know the whereabouts of Dadvan: “The above publication replaces the direct delivery of a lien notice to the debtor whose whereabouts are unknown.”

Advert

Yousuf writes: “I am actually in Switzerland and could respond to a letter at any time. Publishing it in its entirety in the ‘Official Gazette’ seems to me to be a more strategic approach.” He plans to resolve the legally recognized claim. That’s why he believes he should be physically there.

It is doubtful whether the enforcement office will see it that way.
